NEW PCP & Licensing
New SAfe food for canadians regulations
CFIA has now moved away from federal registration of honey & food operations, effective January 2019 and have implemented the “new safe food for Canadians” regulations. The regulation now requires food manufactures that engage in selling Intra/Inter and exports of food products including honey and maple syrup to obtain license from CFIA.
The food producers will have to go on line through MYCFIA for digital registration. In order to obtain the requisite license, the business has to develop their own “Preventive Control Plan” (PCP) that should include traceability of the product till source. The existing food safety compliance programs will remain as part of the operations internal food safety compliance process. Those facilities that were newly registered under the old regulations, can continue operations until the expiry of the registration, after which, they need to register online through MYCFIA
